If you were the kind of kid who liked to go to amusement arcades in malls then you have probably played with first person shooter horror games like the classic House of the Dead. Though the golden age of arcade games are long over, it is never truly gone. Because of how well-made horror arcade-like games such as Granny are, the fancy of gamers will always be upheld.
The creator of Granny is Swedish game developer Dennis Vukanovic a.k.a. DVloper who is quite famous for his horror game creations like Slendrina. DVloper mainly creates mobile horror games with the Unity development platform. The origins of Granny can be traced back to the Slendrina series. When Granny was released on November 24, 2017 for mobile devices, it became popular as a result of the numerous Youtube like FGTeev and Random Encounters that featured the game in their channels. A year later, the game was made available on Steam for $4.99. Granny is still popular in today's scene of horror games.
The premise of the game is quite straightforward. Players have to accomplish one thing, to flee the house. At the beginning of the game, the players will be awoken to a creepy house that they do not know. Along the way, players will come across several equally creepy problems in the house. Needlessly to say, the ultimate impediment is the crazy old murderous woman known as Granny. The way towards freedom would be either through the locked front door or by driving a disassembled car in the garage. The fun does not end there.
good resource will have to gather items in the house that will help them escape and they will also eventually encounter the Granny’s monstrous pets. The ultimate test for any player is to be able to end the game as quietly as possible as Granny is highly vulnerable to any sounds.
On top of these things, players can also choose from five other game modes. For first time players, practice mode is the best option. Whereas Easy, Normal, Hard, and Extreme are all modes with varying levels of difficulty for you to play the game in the intensity that would be most fun to you. Of course, you can try and complete all these game modes to find out if you actually are up for the challenge.
Granny’s graphics often will not be likened comparable to today’s contemporary games. As a matter of fact, Granny is comparable to that of an 80s blocky first person shooter game that is often found in amusement arcades. Although it falls short in this aspect, it compensates through game play mechanics and staying true to what kind of game it is - a superb horror game that will keep any players on their feet.
